Hi
I registered with FICS and bought the full version of Online Chess. It worked once connected OK and i played online. Since then it won't run. When I start up Online Chess, I don't get past the splash screen ..it searched for the server then th eprogram boots back to my Ipod desktop after a short while. It is not a problem with the wireless. If i switch off the modem , i get a differnt message. It tells me that it has timed out trying to connect to the FICS. So th eproblem seems to be that it does connect ? to the FICS and somehow just shuts down when It logs me in .

I now have a further problem. I uninstalled the program from the Ipod..let it sync with Itunes , and then rechecked the program in itunes so it would load up agai n again. Th e problem is that it now connects to FICS me as a guest , but doesn't recognise i paid for a premium version through the Ipod..it still asks me if I want to go ahead and pay fro the premium version…

Hi Mark!
Sorry for the delayed response..
Do you have a spotty 3G/2G connection in your house? The FICS server is very picky about requiring a very stable data connection. We have tried different ways of keeping the data conenction alive – but to no avail (so far).
Re the re-locking. You can safely go ahead and 'purchase' the unlocking again. Apple will recognize that you've bought the unlocking before and won't charge you again…
Cheers,
Magnus

Magnus, My ADSL2+ connection was indeed flaky..it totally failed last night and my internet service provider tweaked the signal at their end today and Online Chess is now working fine . Thanks !
